Living Harvest Organic Protein
What is organic protein and where can you get it?
When most people think of protein they think of red meat, chicken, fish etc.
However, there is an organic alternative to consuming meat in the form of protein from plants and plant seeds. A popular option is hemp protein.
Essentially what happens is hemp seeds are milled and turned into powder.
This produces a high protein mixture that you can take by adding it to drinks such as smoothies.
Hemp seed is actually one of nature's most ideal foods, easily digested by the body. Hemp contains all 10 essential amino acids which are the basic components of all proteins. Hemp is also rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6.
These are the essential fatty acids that all our bodies require. They are known as essential because our bodies cannot actually manufacture them in the same way as it can most of the amino acids. Therefore it is essential that we have a regular intake.
We buy a lot of our supplements from Naturally direct. They deliver internationally and have an interesting range of 'super green' foods that are designed to re-balance your body's acidity caused by eating many of the processed foods so common today. This bolsters your ability to fight off disease.
Omega 3 and 6 are required to ensure proper health in the body's cardiovascular, immune and nervous systems, particularly the brain. There is a lot of research into the effect of Omega 3 and 6 supplements in children. Many people are claiming marked improvements in performance at school and also improvements in conditions
My own son experiences learning difficulties and we started giving him a fish oil supplement and noticed an improvement in his reading skills and attention span. I can't say that it was totally due to the fish oils as we didn't scientifically test it.
It may be just a coincidence but it is one I am happy to live with!
You can view the Living Harvest Organic Protein range at their website. They have a hemp protein powder that comes in three flavours, original, chocolate chilli and vanilla spice.
